<p>Back in April Nintendo announced some big news: the company's next home console, code-named NX, <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2016/4/27/11516352/nintendo-nx-confirmed-release-date">will be launching globally in March 2017</a>. That's a quick turnaround from the Wii U, which launched in November 2012. However, even though it's releasing in less than a year, we know very little about what the NX actually is. Nintendo has been very quiet about what the device will be, but thanks to a number of reports and rumors, we can at least piece together some details on the Wii U's successor.</p>

<p>It's not really accurate to describe Nintendo's E3 2016 show floor presence as a booth - it's more of a shrine. And that shrine is dedicated almost entirely to one thing: the upcoming <em>Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild</em>, which is launching on both the Wii U and NX some time next year. <p><em>Pok&eacute;mon Go</em>, the augmented reality free-to-play mobile game from Niantic, will be available this July. Nintendo announced the release window <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNKgwyy2WTI">during its second-day E3 live stream</a>, but didn't give a concrete day. The company did say the game's accessory, a wrist-worn wearable called Pok&eacute;mon Go Plus that lets you play the game without using your smartphone, will be available for $34.99. Unfortunately, it won't be quite ready at launch, Nintendo clarified.</p>

<p>The new Zelda game is called <em>Breath of the Wild</em>, we <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2016/6/14/11933160/legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-gameplay-trailer-e3-2016">found out today</a>, and while it's still jam-packed with Zelda series conventions - you still play as blond boy Link, you're still in Hyrule, you still love hurling ceramic pots around - it also seems to represent quite a break with the prescribed paths of previous Zeldas. <em>Breath of the Wild</em> seems to have taken its cues from huge western RPGs like <em>Skyrim</em>, giving Link free reign to run around its huge map, and allowing players to dictate how they approach puzzles, and giving them the chance to plot their own course through the game.</p>

The company issued similarly brief press releases ahead of the <a href="https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2010/100323e.pdf">3DS</a> and <a href="https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2011/110425_4e.pdf">Wii U</a>'s respective reveals, confirming the existence of the platforms but telling investors and the public to wait until E3 for extra information.</p>
