We've just spent a few minutes with HTC's Rezound for Verizon, the high-spec handset rumored for the past few months as the Vigor. Let's just cut to the chase: this is a beefy phone. As they did on the Sensation, HTC employs a trick in which it rounds the edges of the device to give the appearance (and feel) that it's a little less thick than it actually is, but the trick works with less dramatic effect here - there's just no lying about a shell this deep (13.65mm, according to the official fact sheet). It's about time! As expected, HTC's finally announced the Rezound (long known as the Vigor) at an event here in NYC today, and it's pretty much the powerhouse of a phone we thought it would be. Internally it's got a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Verizon LTE, and an 8-megapixel rear camera. But it's more than just insanely impressive internal specs: the 1280 x 720-resolution, 4.3-inch display is looking to give the Galaxy Nexus a run for its money, though it will ship with Android 2.3 and will get Ice Cream Sandwich "early next year." It's pretty safe to say that the long-rumored HTC Vigor is going to in fact be called the Rezound, and that it's headed to Verizon very, very soon. A Droid-Life reader spotted the sign below at a local Verizon store, and while it doesn't detail the full specs of the phone, it reveals the deep Beats branding (with the red glowing soft keys and the earbuds) and LTE speeds. Nothing denoting the 720p display and dual-core Qualcomm Adreno 220 processor are shown in the picture, but something tells us we'll be hearing about those at HTC's event later this week. As per usual, the official invite doesn't reveal what phone will be taking center stage, but the featured Beats logo coupled with the abundance of Rezound / Vigor leaks we've seen lately make it the likely focus. Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC Rezound appear in Verizon system, to be priced at $299.99?

While we await the October 19th unveiling for Ice Cream Sandwich and the new Nexus phone that goes with it, leaks about the Verizon version have coalesced around the "Galaxy Nexus" name. Most recently, it cropped up in a screen shot from Verizon's Device Management system leaked to Droid Life, which also suggests that it will sport 4G LTE. That same system also has the HTC Rezound, the rumored retail name for the Vigor, appearing with 4G LTE and a hint that it could be a world phone as well.

Both phones also appeared in a leak of Verizon's latest "Minimum Advertised Price" list, also to Droid Life. Each was listed with a MAP of $299.99 in the …

HTC Vigor picture appears, soon to dominate Verizon?

The HTC Vigor has been something of an anomaly in the Android world: it's a potentially awesome smartphone with a surprisingly sparse set of rumors and images. The latter, at least, has finally been resolved by Droid Life. The styling here definitely invokes the Droid Incredible down to the angular, raised sections on the back. There's also, naturally, a mention of HTC Sense. Around front there's a front-facing camera and what appears to be a very large screen.
