I just stumbled on this awesome little project by undef and Joshua Noble which takes a simple premise to a completely wild conclusion, and wanted to share. Though it’s a bit difficult to explain, the artist / hackers have combined a standard receipt printer, a projector, some basic game code, and a PlayStation controller to enable a racing game which is played in both a physical and digital realm simultaneously — with all of the pieces synced and interacting as you would expect. What that means is that you may be racing a dot of light on what appears to be a static printout, but courses and crash detection are happening in realtime. The end result is nothing short of brilliant. Take a look at the video after the break to get an idea of just how the magic comes together.
Receipt printer racing game is pure nerd magic
