Star Wars Funday Football will be a real-time, animated telecast of Super Bowl LXI that will animate the players as Star Wars characters, just before the original cut returns to theaters on February 19th.

The planned film was announced in 2020, but Waititi tells Inverse that he and screenwriter Tony McNamara are “going to actually put it on ice and we’re working on a different thing together.”

Nathan Fielder’s three-hour documentary about Elizabeth Holmes raked in $15 million in its opening weekend. That’s double expectations and enough to place it in second place at the box office this weekend, behind only Street Fighter. What’s more, it’s the largest opening for a non-music or concert documentary since 2004’s Fahrenheit 9/11.

There are two hugely hyped docs out right now that I am eager to see — Musk and You Can See Everything. But it’s rare for a feature-length documentary to get this much attention and a wide theatrical release. So, what are your favorite docs that others might have missed?

Yesterday it was reported that the TikTok account for Alex Gibney’s Musk documentary had been “permanently suspended.” Today, TikTok US spokesperson Mahsau Cullinane told The Verge, “I can confirm that the advertising account has been restored after an error,” which was described as technical.

Production on the film has been paused while director Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter, but Steven Soderbergh offered to help with the “final weeks” of principal photography on the movie.

As reported by Variety, the newly listed Skydance (SKYD) currently has a market cap of around $40 billion, which is less than half of the sum of the $77.7 billion and $11 billion market caps that Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance had before their merger.

The Mummy: Book of the Dead debuts in theaters in exactly one year: October 15th, 2027. The date was moved up earlier this year from a planned May 2028 release.

The “Crows” scene from the upcoming stop-motion fantasy film is less than two minutes long. Wildwood production designer Nelson Lowry told Variety it’s “the largest and most complex film” Laika has ever done. It comes out in theaters next week on October 23rd.

As much as haters not might not be willing to admit it, the more we see of Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew movie, the more the looks like it might be a generational banger when it premieres on February 12th, 2027.

The latest teaser for Godzilla Minus Zero gives us a glimpse of Ghidorah’s gravity beams, but no shots of the kaiju itself. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer, as Godzilla Minus Zero hits theaters on November 6th.

The former Warner Bros. Discovery CEO will receive the massive windfall after WBD officially merged with Paramount on Tuesday. It consists of more than $224 million in WBD shares sold by Zaslav, as well as $381 million held in stock options, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As far as publicity stunts go, this is a pretty solid one. Performers dressed as Ryu and Ken battled inside an arcade cabinet, complete with oversized joysticks and buttons. Interestingly, it only has three buttons, rather than the traditional six, with one of them reminiscent of the pressure-sensitive buttons on the original Street Fighter.

Though AI studio Fable has not yet announced which distributor will put its animated Gods Don’t Give Gifts feature into theaters, Variety reports that the project is now slated to premiere on December 4th — which would make it eligible for submission for the upcoming Oscars.

The acclaimed director, who worked on the first two Transformers films, will focus on “all creative aspects” of the next live-action movie that’s in the works at Paramount, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Michael Bay, who directed the first five movies, is “in talks” to direct this planned eighth film. Shia LaBeouf isn’t expected to return.

The game has an excellent single-player campaign, though if you hit any hitches due to Luna’s cloud streaming, they could be frustrating because Galactic Racer basically requires split-second reflexes. Check out my review of the game, which I played on PS5, if you want to learn more about it.

With its encore theatrical release ahead of Doomsday, Endgame has inched past Avatar to retake the throne as the highest-grossing film with $2.925 billion, versus $2.923 billion. Endgame overtook Avatar in 2019, only for James Cameron to retake it in 2021 with a rerelease ahead of Avatar: The Way of Water.

Revisiting rumors from earlier this year, Deadline and TheWrap report the adaptation of EA’s long-running FPS series would be directed and written by frequent Tom Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie. According to TheWrap, Sony is a “frontrunner,” following a bidding war that also included Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Universal, and Netflix.
