Framework couch keyboard, meet Logitech couch keyboard.

Yes, I really did bring my own Logitech K400 to the Framework event to compare with Framework’s new keyboard+touchpad. I also accidentally left the Logitech there and had to go back; my colleague Victoria can confirm! Also in this video: check out what I am now calling Framework’s “anti-dongle.”

Hori’s Piranha Plant camera for the Switch 2 is down to a new low price.

Hori’s third-party USB-C camera for the Nintendo Switch 2 is somewhat lacking in the specs department — it only supports 480p resolution and an 85-degree viewing angle — but you’d be hard-pressed to find a cuter alternative for $29.99, its current sale price at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy.

Turns out Framework’s eGPU is even more powerful than I thought.

Framework told PCWorld that its new eGPU kit will include the first OCuLink 8i connector in a laptop — meaning eight lanes and 128Gbps of PCI-Express connectivity, which means it should be even faster than Thunderbolt 5 and shouldn’t bottleneck a GPU as much as the four-lane solutions we’ve tried before.

Oura’s the official wearable of US soccer.

Unsurprising, given Oura’s discreet form-factor and its long-term relationships with several professional sports organizations. You likely won’t see it on the pitch during this year’s World Cup (FIFA is a no-go for wearables during play). That said, it is another example of how professional athletes are integrating wearables into their training.

Razer says its new Atlas Pro is the world’s thinnest glass mouse mat.

The original Atlas is 5mm thick, but the $129.99 Atlas Pro slims that down to just 1.9mm with a 1.1 mm sheet of tempered glass atop a 0.8 mm anti-slip base. The surface of the mat features a micro-etched texture, ensuring it’s compatible with optical sensors, while the edges of the glass have been CNC-milled to create a comfortable rounded finish.

DJI adds a wireless touchscreen remote to its new smartphone stabilizer.

The Osmo Mobile 8 Pro that DJI just announced in China for 899 CNY (around $132) carries forward a lot of the functionality of the last version including a telescoping extension rod and 10 hours of battery life. Its most compelling upgrade is a tiny touchscreen remote that magnetically docks to the gimbal.

The Osmo Mobile 8 Pro starts at around $132 but adding its advanced tracking module increases the price by around $30.

Chipolo’s batteries are better than it realized.

The rechargeable Loop and Card trackers were rated to last six months before topping up, based on controlled tests. But after over a year of real-world testing, Chipolo “can now confidently say that the battery lasts up to one year on a single full charge, and in some cases even more.”

It pays to be fair.

Fairphone reports its smartphone shipments grew by 42 percent in 2025, no mean feat when the rest of the industry has been fairly flat. I thought last year’s Fairphone 6 was a huge step forward in quality, and it’s a good time for its efforts to expand into the US.

And here’s our Framework Laptop 13 Pro video.

If I didn’t already have a perfectly good laptop, I’d be saving up my money for this one. (Saving, not preordering, because I always wait for the reviews.)

We just tried — and tore down — the Framework Laptop 13 Pro.

I just updated my story with some hands-on impressions and a photo gallery; we should have a quick video coming later today too!

Oppo’s Android version of the iPad Mini has a larger screen and smaller bezels.

Following a teaser earlier this month, Oppo’s Pad Mini Android tablet has launched in China. Its 8.8-inch OLED screen is larger than the iPad Mini’s, but the Pad Mini has slimmer 2.99mm bezels and is just 5.39mm thick. Pricing starts at 3,699 CNY (around $542) for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The Pad Mini is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and is available in configurations up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Framework’s first laptop sleeve is made of space-age Tyvek.

Don’t call it duct-tape! Tyvek is a plastic that feels (and creases) like paper, similarly made of fibers bonded together. I have a wallet made of the stuff. The bag has dedicated pockets for Framework’s Expansion Cards, screwdriver, and up to a 13-inch laptop. The $39 sleeve comes in silver or black.

Hmm… 🤔 that photo in Framework’s keynote looks familiar.

While hyping up its couch keyboard, Framework CEO Nirav Patel showed images of how people use its computers in the living room. It gave me a Leo DiCaprio moment as I noticed a photo from my time testing Bazzite on the Framework Desktop. How about a photo credit, Nirav?

Framework is filling the Laptop 16’s literal gaps with one-piece touchpad and keyboard decks.

The Framework Laptop 16 is the most modular laptop ever made — but we’ve never been huge fans of the uneven and occasionally creaky spacers that let you shift the keyboard and touchpad left and right. Here are new one-piece versions. The touchpad might feel nicer now that it’s haptic, too! Waiting to hear the price on these.

Framework says new Laptop 13 Pro has more Netflix battery life than an M5 MacBook Pro.

20 hours of 4K Netflix, says CEO Nirav Patel. It’s got a Core Ultra 3 chip, a 22 percent larger and denser battery, a custom 30-120Hz VRR screen and LPCAMM2 compression mounted memory. Full story coming soon.

Stick a 10Gbps port into your Framework Desktop or Laptop.

It’s even bigger than Framework’s existing 2.5Gbps expansion card, and will definitely stick out the side of your machine. But it’s fast! (Framework gave up on foldable Ethernet ports when it turned out their internals were too chunky, BTW.) The company isn’t yet saying how much it’ll cost.

Anker’s Laptop Power Bank is back to its best price this year.

Amazon and Best Buy are selling the power bank for $95.99 ($24 off). I’ve been using it for a year, and it’s great for charging up to four devices — including a MacBook Pro — with up to 130W of combined output. It includes a retractable USB-C cable and another that doubles as a strap, while the small display helps you keep tabs on charge levels.

After promoting Johny Srouji, I expect Apple to continue focusing on what makes its recent Macs so great: the chips.

Wearable health tech might be Tim Cook’s greatest legacy

Cook once said Apple’s greatest contribution to mankind would be ‘about health.’ If true, he’ll get much of the credit.

Oh joy, ICE glasses.

According to journalist Ken Klippenstein, ICE may be working on developing smart glasses capable of facial and biometric recognition. Klippenstein claims the agency wouldn’t just be using this tech on illegal aliens, but all Americans, especially protesters. College students proved this tech is already doable, but thanks, I hate it.

The enscreenification of chargers continues with Satechi’s new ChargeView.

Not every power adapter needs a screen, but Satechi’s new $99.99 ChargeView, available now through its online store and Amazon, lets you monitor how much power individual devices are drawing from four USB-C ports, and how much of its total output of 140W remains.

LG upgraded its portable StanbyMe 2 TV with a larger 4K screen.

After debuting at CES 2025, the StanbyMe 2 launched last July with a 27-inch 1440p display (the original was only 1080p). Less than a year later LG is introducing a new 32-inch version with a resolution bump to 4K and a slightly longer 4.5 hour battery. It’s launching in South Korea for around $1,080 but US availability hasn’t been confirmed.

The StanbyMe 2 has a removable wheeled stand for moving it around your home.
The TV’s stand can be swapped for a carrying strap, but hanging it above your bed’s headboard may not be the best idea.

Sony accidentally leaks 10th anniversary headphones.

A product called “1000X The Collexion” with an over-ear headphone model number of “WH-1000XX” briefly appeared on Sony’s region websites. There are no images, but a previous report suggest that the limited-edition model will launch for €629 (about $740) on May 19th.
