Although Ricoh’s had a decent track record with high-end point and shoots like the GR Digital II and GXR, it’s fallen short in the DSLR game against bigger names like Nikon and Canon. Perhaps that’s why it’s decided to spend $124.2 million on Pentax, which has made a mark with noteworthy cameras -- specifically the K-5, K-7 and recently announced Q. Ricoh hasn’t said exactly how it plans to integrate Pentax’s technologies with its existing camera line, but it says it’s trying to strengthen its consumer interchangeable lens products, so we’re hoping to see some sweet DSLRs come out of this.
