At IFA today, some extremely smart folks from the Fraunhofer Institute showed us how data can be transferred with the use of visible light. By modulating the output at a frequency too high for the human eye to recognize, they’ve achieved transfer rates of up to 800Mbps under lab conditions. What you’ll see in the video after the break is a 10Mbps connection, which was somewhat blighted by poor conference call software, but the future for this technology looks, dare we say it, bright!
