Android users looking to chew bubblegum and kick ass will finally get their chance: Duke Nukem 3D is on its way to the Android Market. The classic mid-90s first-person shooter, renowned in its day for a mix of harsh language, titillation, movie references, and alien violence, is being ported by game developer MachineWorks NorthWest as part of Tapjoy’s game-centric Android Fund. The title was previously made available on iOS devices back in 2009.

Game selection has been somewhat of a sore spot for Android users, and while Duke Nukem’s graphics are nothing to write home about in 2011, seeing legacy titles like this fill in the gaps is great news for the platform. The game will run on Android phones and tablets with Eclair 2.1 or higher, so chances are you’ll be good to go for some cigar-chompin’ alien blasting. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability — nor have any plans been announced for a port of the long-awaited and universally-slammed Duke Nukem Forever. But really, isn’t that last one a good thing?
