Chrome Web Store gets redesigned

With little fanfare, Google just rolled out a full redesign to its Chrome Web Store reminiscent of the visual style seen lately in Gmail, Docs, and Google Plus. The left rail has been tightened up to let you quickly browse apps by type or overall popularity. Each page brings up an infinitely scrollable grid of apps, with some pages revealing a featured app at the top. Hovering on an app triggers a slick tab to slide up featuring more information on the app and the option to Add to Chrome. Clicking on an app loads a window overlay that offers app reviews, details, screenshots. While the Web Store generally feels faster and looks fresher and more inviting, Google unfortunately seems to have completely removed sorting options within each section, making it impossible to browse by ratings, downloads, or recent changes.

Thanks, Alexandre
