HP's former CEO Leo Apotheker may have been the one to spearhead and announce the company's move to acquire enterprise software firm Autonomy, but his resignation certainly hasn't cut a hole in the deal. The $12 billion dollar acquisition has just closed, making HP the owner of the UK-based software company whose products focus on customer and data management. New HP CEO Meg Whitman stated her intention to stay the course with many of Apotheker's decisions two weeks ago, including the move to dissolve the webOS hardware business, and today's news is certainly a reinforcement of that vision. Of course, the biggest question surrounds HP's PC business and its potential spin-off, but Whitman and HP board chairman Ray Lane said they hope to reach a decision on that before the of the year.
