Amazon's 'Special Offers' ads can be opted out of on latest batch of subsidized Kindle classic models. Initially discovered at the MobileRead forum, a quick tweak—and $30 charge—on the Manage My Devices page online will transform your offer-infused Kindle into an ad-free device. It's a welcome feature; you now have the option of testing out an ad-supported Kindle and a simple settings switch online saves you from having to return the e-reader to Amazon if you want to upgrade. The Digital Reader blog notes that this ad removal capability isn't available for Kindle 3 devices; no word yet if it will work on the Kindle Touch.
