Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus gets FCC approval

If that outline of a phone looks familiar, that’s because it’s one that you probably know all too well: it’s the Galaxy Nexus, this time in its Verizon-ready CDMA / LTE form, and it just received FCC approval today. We’re not seeing any surprises here — it’s got certifications for CDMA on the 850 and 1900MHz bands plus LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth — but it’s one of the biggest hurdles in bringing a device to market, so this is a great sign that Verizon could be ready to put it on shelves in the coming days or weeks. Regardless, we know that Europeans are expecting them to start launching on various carriers this Thursday, so we imagine the worst-case scenario for Americans would be a trickle of extremely pricey gray-market units a few days thereafter.
