Just in time for the horrific travel day that is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Garmin’s updated its StreetPilot Onboard app for iOS to make your drive a little easier. The new version adds access to 10,000 live traffic cameras around the US and Canada, so you can see for yourself what the road looks like. Garmin already has some live traffic features, but there’s nothing like seeing it with your own eyes. You can also set up favorite cameras, if you want to check every morning to see which route to work is best. The update also brings live weather and forecasts to the app, as well as faster searching and the ability to share your location via SMS or Facebook (we’re not sure why you’d want to do that, but to each his own).

The upgrade is free, save for the traffic cams, which will run you $9.99 as an in-app purchase. If you haven’t bought StreetPilot Onboard yet, Black Friday is the time: the USA version is $24.99 on Friday, down from $49.99, and other Garmin and Navigon apps are getting discounts as well.
