Sony Ericsson has been slowly rolling out Gingerbread to every 2011 Xperia smartphone since August of this year, promising a 3D sweep panorama mode, Facebook integration and more, but one little feature wasn’t mentioned on the changelog: WebGL support. The company confirmed today that the in-browser 3D graphics API was baked right into the very same update, meaning you can play around with some neat tech demos if you’re lucky enough to have received Android 2.3.4 by now. If not, you can still live vicariously through Sony Ericsson’s engineers (as we all did in February) by watching the video below. We’d say it’s a glimpse of the future, but it’s too early to tell. For now, it’s a way to pass the time while you wait for your Ice Cream Sandwich to arrive.
