Leaked copy of ‘Modern Warfare 3’ fetches $1,725 on Ebay

The follow up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — once the biggest selling game of all time — has generated a massive amount of hype. Rumors suggest that the new game has the biggest ad budget ever, but it’s not like they need ads to get the hype up. Following Kmart accidentally selling Modern Warfare 3 for Xbox 360 a week early, the leaked copies have been showing up on Ebay for many times the $60 asking price. One copy has seriously outdone the rest, however, reaching a staggering $1,725 just five days before the game’s official release.

Possibly the saddest aspect of this is that the avid buyer might not even get early access to the game — Microsoft’s Xbox Live Director of Policy and Enforcement Stephen Toulouse has warned that copies activated early might damage users Live accounts, and urged those with a copy to be patient.
