As expected, the compact interchangeable lens shooter brings a 16.01 megapixel Live MOS sensor and high-speed Venus Engine processing capable of pulling images at a maximum 12,800 ISO sensitivity. The mirrorless camera supports Lumix G / Leica DG lenses and features a high-grade body design, level gauge, a GN7.6 equivalent built-in flash, customizable function buttons, 3.0-inch 460,000-dot touchscreen control, and optional 1,440,000-dot equivalent tilt-shift Live View Finder offering 100 percent field of view.

The GX1 features a quick Light Speed AF allowing it to autofocus in about 0.09 seconds and a new AF Flexible mode locks the focus when the shutter is half-pressed. The camera captures images in RAW format, if you want, and video in 1,920 x 1,080 / 60i AVCHD (or MP4 format) with an intelligent auto mode to keep things simple.

Look for it to ship in mid-December in both black and silver bodies for $699.99.
