LG's searching for a way into the smartphone game, and it looks like we already know its next move: the LG Spectrum, coming to a Verizon store near you. The Spectrum is the natural successor to the LG Revolution, and from pictures first posted by PocketNow, it looks like it's been slimmed down considerably. Its specs read just like the Nitro HD — 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 720p display, 8-megapixel camera, and LTE connectivity —and it even looks just like the AT&T handset, right down to the ridiculous piece of plastic covering the USB port. (On the plus side, it looks like some of the awful UI skin is gone.) It's a solid spec sheet, but the Spectrum's Verizon competition is even steeper than the Nitro's — the Galaxy Nexus, HTC Rezound, and Droid Razr are all top-notch options, and it's not obvious where the Spectrum might fit in. No official word yet on price or release date, but if it's going to ship without Android 4.0 it better do it soon.
