Radeon HD 7970 raw specs leak out: 3.5 TFLOPs, 3GB on-board memory, 3W idle power draw?

A leaked spec sheet suggests the new Radeon HD 7970 has substantially improved specs from earlier single-GPU cards, but with low power consumption.

If a leaked slide obtained by OBR-Hardware can be believed, AMD’s new Radeon HD 7970 series graphics card could be quite the upgrade for your high-end gaming PC. Not only does it seem to confirm a practically unheard-of 384-bits of memory bandwidth for the card, but apparently there’s a full 3GB of of that GDDR5 memory on AMD’s reference model, not to mention a 925MHz core clockspeed, 32 ROPs and 128 texture units, and 2,048 stream processors. AMD’s allegedly boasting that the card has 3.5 teraflops of power in total.

All told, it sounds like we’re looking at a substantial chunk of the same performance with this single GPU as we’ve come to expect from dual-GPU powerhouses like the GeForce GTX 590 and the Radeon HD 6990, and here’s the best part: Apparently, the card will use under 300W under load and a fairly incredible sub-3W when idle. We’ll have to see it to believe it, of course, but we certainly like the idea of saving the planet (and money towards power bills) at the same time we’re blasting away in our favorite game titles.
