If you’re on-board with the single-port docking station dream of Thunderbolt but not a fan of the port itself, Targus has a USB 3.0-based solution for you. The Targus USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dual Video Docking Station, available for $199.99, works with a single USB cable plugged into your laptop and provides HDMI, DVI, gigabit ethernet, four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and audio in/out. The unique feature is that those display ports are capable of powering two monitors with up to 2048 x 1152 resolution thanks to the inbuilt DisplayLink technology. Targus includes DVI-I to VGA and HDMI to DVI-D adapters as well to help wrangle your current setup into compatibility with the dock.

Targus calls it the first USB 3.0 dual-video dock, though to be fair we’ve seen plenty of USB 2.0 docks with similar functionality. It’s available for purchase though several retailers (and at a lower asking price) now, though currently Targus’ own site lists it as “coming soon.”
