As we reported last week, Sharp’s recently-developed RJ63YC100 is the world’s thinnest CMOS camera module with optical image stabilization, and while it won’t be available to other manufacturers until next month, Sharp has already added the sensor to its SH–01D handset on NTT Docomo. In the time since the phone was released last week, Sharp has released a trio of videos of the camera’s stabilization in action, showing us how well the 12.1-megapixel, 1080p module tackles tricky subjects like the all-too-familiar “man in kimono with crow perched on head” environment in video two. You can really see the stabilization at work when the crow’s pendulum starts rocking back and forth. The SH-01D will probably never make it out of Japan, but we hope other OEMs start picking the camera module up when it hits the mass market in January.
