Barnes & Noble is beginning to roll out an update for its Nook Color ereader. Although most of the recent buzz surrounding the Nook Color has focused on its Android capabilities, the 1.3.0 update released today adds new reading features. Specifically, the tablet now has access to Time Warner magazines, including People, Time, and Sports Illustrated. Time Warner has been making a big push to get its print magazines on as many tablets as possible -- from the Android-based Nook all the way to the (now discontinued) HP TouchPad. If you’re already a subscriber to one of those publications, the Nook editions version is free.

In addition to the new version of Nook Magazines, the update brings parental controls and “ongoing enhancements to Wi-Fi connectivity and other performance improvements.”
Users can wait for the update to arrive over Wi-Fi sometime this week or download it directly and install manually.
