Back on August 31st when HP announced it would discontinue the webOS hardware division, layoffs were certainly predicted. With the complete shuttering of the division expected at the end of this quarter on October 31st, those layoffs have begun. Sources told All Things D that up to 525 people who work in the company's previously split off Global Business Unit have gotten pink slips this week, and that the layoffs are part of the previously announced plan, but it is unclear how many more people will lose their jobs in the coming weeks as the end nears.
