Ooma provides free VOIP services to anyone who buys its phone and Telo base station, and now the company’s released a new model of its flagship handset, the HD2. What sets the HD2 apart is that it hooks into Google, Yahoo, or Facebook to download your contact list and phone numbers to the handset itself, providing a smartphone-like integrated contact system. It also can sync pictures of your friends on Facebook to the contacts, so you can see who’s calling. Ooma’s also planning to add more features in the future, including different ringtones for contacts or groups of contacts. The Ooma HD2 handset will be available in March for $59.99, but you still need to buy a Telo base station, which retails for $199.99.
