Verizon is following Zomm’s footsteps by announcing a device intended to help the elderly. The Verizon SureResponse is a one-touch panic button of sorts that has a 24 hour link to Verizon’s support line for any sort of emergency. Medical information, caregiver contacts, and physician information all get stored in an online portal, and the Verizon response team can track the device using GPS and dispatch medical personnel or connect users through to loved ones. There are a variety of docks for travel, for home, and for your wrist, though it can also be worn simply around your neck on a lanyard. There’s no information on price, release date, or whether it’ll require a contract, but the reps on the floor told us it would be “priced competitively” whenever it does arrive officially.
