Google’s been shutting down experimental services and features over the past few months in an effort to hone the company’s focus, but that doesn’t mean it’s afraid to add new ones. According to Computerworld and Droid Life, users running the latest 4.0.3 build of Ice Cream Sandwich are seeing a new “Experiments” section in their Gmail app settings with two new features. The first enables indexing of your Gmail messages on the device itself, allowing for quicker local email search results, while the second lets users move addresses between the “To”, “Cc,” and “Bcc” fields with a simple drag and drop. The new settings are said to appear in version 4.0.3-239410 of the Gmail app — the default build on the ICS-upgraded Asus Transformer Prime — and while they’re more functionality tweaks than true experimental features, we certainly welcome the iteration. Of course, we’ll welcome it much more when we can use the new features on the Galaxy Nexus.
