We took a look at several different Mirasol e-readers at CES, and now Koobe, Inc. is bringing another option to market with a revised version of the Jin Yong Reader. Debuting today at the Taipei International Book Fair, the device replaces the black-and-white model from 2010, and lines up almost identically in specs and looks with the Bambook Sunflower and Kyobo e-readers. It features a 5.7-inch 1024 x 768 color Mirasol touchscreen, a 1.0GHz Snapdragon S2 processor, and runs Koobe’s own custom skin atop Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device comes preloaded with the 15 novels written by its namesake Chinese-language author, as well as providing access to Koobe’s own library of books, graphic novels, and interactive ebooks.

While we haven’t been blown away by the current crop of Mirasol devices, the technology does offer a unique set of features — and it’s one that Qualcomm clearly intends to keep investing in. The new Jin Yong Reader will be available “imminently” in Taiwan, with no word yet on pricing or availability in other regions.
