We’ve known for some time that Nokia Chairman Jorma Ollila was planning to step down this year once the company found the right replacement, and it appears that it finally has. Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reports that the board’s Nomination Committee is about to nominate Risto Siilasmaa, the founder of security company F-Secure and a Nokia board member since 2008, for the position. Ollila stated to the paper, “To my knowledge, the Nomination Committee will meet to decide on its proposal for a new chairman later this month at the [Annual General Meeting].”

Nokia’s recently-appointed CEO Stephen Elop brought sweeping changes to the company by calling for the abandonment of its MeeGo operating system in favor of collaborating with Microsoft on its Windows Phone platform, and the Nomination Committee is reportedly looking for a Finn (Elop is Canadian) from inside Nokia’s board to fill the Chairman position. Ollila was CEO of the company from 1992-2006, and has been Chairman since 1999.
