The Kindle Owners’ Lending Library has been restricted to US customers ever since Amazon launched the service late last year, but it’s finally going international. Readers in the UK, Germany, and France will be able to borrow ebooks at no charge from a growing list of titles that now stands at over 200,000, according to the online retailer. The same one-book-at-a-time limit that affects US Kindle owners still applies overseas, but a lack of due dates means you’ll have plenty of time to cross off those reading list selections. The lending program is proving lucrative for authors, according to Amazon, which claims that participants earned $2.29 per borrow in September — a figure the company claims is sometimes more than they’d make outright.
