Last month Google started trialling a feature that added relevant Gmail messages to your search results, and today the program is expanding. Now, registered users will start to see Google Drive files appear in search results both from Gmail and the Google.com homepage, offering a potentially faster and easier way to access their data. Gmail searches will also return results from Google Calendar events.

The trial is currently limited to English-speaking users with regular @gmail.com accounts — a rather large potential audience, though Google does say it “may not be able to activate the experiment for everyone.” If you feel like trying your luck, you can sign up at g.co/searchtrial.
