Amazon: $199 Kindle Fire HD had ‘biggest day since launch’ after iPad mini event

The implication is clear: after seeing what Apple had to offer, many consumers decided to buy Amazon’s cheaper tablet instead. While, assuming the spokesperson was correct, Amazon’s figures did rise considerably, AllThingsD points out that Apple also managed to sell out pre-orders of its white iPad mini within hours. Of course, we don’t have concrete sales figures for the iPad mini or the Kindle Fire HD, so it’s impossible to compare how either tablet is doing right now. We’ve reached out to Amazon to confirm the spokesperson’s figures.
