Back in September Apple announced that the App Store had hit 700,000 apps — and little more than a month later, Google has done the same. The number, first reported by Bloomberg Businessweek, represents a significant uptick since Google reached 600,000 Android apps and games back in June. The platform’s growth in app selection has been constant and swift — though it does still suffer from a dearth of tablet-specific applications. That’s something that Google hopes the new Nexus 10 will rectify. Whether that will come to pass remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain — developer interest in Android isn’t slowing down in the meantime.
