Earlier today word broke that Google and Motorola were working together on a “X Phone” and tablet — and the company may be putting the pieces in place for the device’s eventual marketing push. AllThingsD is reporting that Google has hired Brian Wallace to run advertising for Motorola’s mobile division. You may not be familiar with Wallace’s name, but you know his work — he previously worked at Samsung, and is said to have had an active hand in the Apple-bashing Samsung commercials that served the Galaxy line of devices so well. Prior to that, he worked for over 10 years at Research in Motion. It’s not clear when Wallace will begin his new job — his LinkedIn profile still has him listed with Samsung — but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a change in Motorola’s smartphone ads in the months ahead.
