The BBC’s Panorama series is dedicated to doing hard-hitting investigations into major issues of social and public import. Having previously sought to understand the rise of Scientology and uncover corruption in the FIFA ranks, the program has now turned its sights on the internet, targeting the problem of cyberbullying. The best moment of this Monday’s documentary, entitled “Hunting the Internet Bullies,” comes when the BBC reporter actually does literally that — getting in his car and driving all the way to Cardiff to confront a troll with a specialism for posting racist and upsetting comments on social networks. Unfortunately (though to no one’s surprise), the confrontation with Nimrod Severn / Darren Burton doesn’t really provide any great insight into the thinking of a troll, but it sure makes for an amusing couple of minutes.
