Verizon has annonuced that a new update for the Droid Xyboard 8.2 and 10.1 will be available soon. The update will bring some exciting new features to the Xyboard, including the ability to "successfully open links in email messages without device needing to reboot." Other less groundbreaking additions include improved browser performance, touch response (plus stylus enhancements for the 10.1), and the capability to maintain a data connection when switching between Wi-Fi and 3G / LTE.

The standout feature from the update, however, enables the Xyboards to roam internationally via GSM. Verizon explains that the new capabilities will be enabled by an additional over-the-air update within two weeks of this update being activated. What’s the price for all of these new features? You’ll be forced to install The Daily application, whether you like it or not. The OTA update is listed as coming soon on the Verizon support site and will be pushed to devices shortly.
