Sony’s Xperia S has launched in its first territory, and is now available from Japan’s largest provider NTT Docomo — but it has a new name. The device is being called Xperia NX in Japan and unlike international models, it will be sold under the Sony Ericsson branding, as opposed to simply Sony. Aside from the name, though, the device itself appears to be unchanged, with the same 4.3-inch display and 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and we’ve already seen the Asian variant running Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread. The rest of the world won’t have too long to wait for the Xperia S, as the device is set to launch in Europe in March, while US users can expect to see the similar Xperia Ion hit AT&T in the second quarter of 2012.
