People who look for touring bands on Google will now be able to see upcoming concert dates in their search results. The company has just announced that aggregated concert dates are being listed in the results with the label “Upcoming Events.” Searching for “coldplay,” for instance, brings up a series of snippets with dates and locations as well as links to buy tickets at Ticketmaster and Viagogo.

Although this is the first time Google has mentioned the addition, some members of Webmaster World noticed the change in late January, so it looks like this may have been in place for a while. The results appear to be aggregated mostly from major ticket sites, but Google says site owners can add “rich snippets” markup in order to have their concert dates included. Concert dates are currently included only in English-language search results, but will eventually be expanded to other languages.
