Digg and Milk founder Kevin Rose goes to work at Google

Kevin Rose is headed to Google, a new report from AllThingsD claims. Rose is a huge hire for Google, having been an integral part of the Web 2.0 movement. He has been featured on the cover of BusinessWeek magazine, hosted shows on TechTV, founded successful ventures like Digg, been named one of the Top 25 Most Influential People On The Web, funded companies through angel investing, and has most recently co-founded Milk, the first “app incubator.” Through his various exploits Rose has become a bit of an internet celebrity, having amassed more than 1.3 million followers on Twitter.

Google also hired a few others from Milk, AllThingsD added, which shut the doors on its first app Oink just yesterday. While we don’t know why Google hired Kevin Rose (or what will happen to Milk), we wouldn’t be surprised if he were put in charge of galvanizing engagement in Google+, the company’s social network.

Update: TechCrunch is reporting that Google in fact picked up the entire Milk team of eight for between $15 and $30 million. “Rumor has it that Rose and crew will be heavily involved in Google’s continuing social efforts,” TechCrunch mentioned.
