It’s a sad fact that the popularity of consoles today means that PC games are rarely developed to the hardware’s full potential. However, while Borderlands 2 probably won’t push your gaming rig too hard, the post-apocalyptic shooter will at least contain PC-specific features that mostly wouldn’t fly on consoles. Developer Gearbox has posted a “love letter” to PC users detailing the options available, including a field-of-view slider, native multiplayer matchmaking, high resolution support, a PC-specific UI with “100 percent mouse-usable menus,” cloud saves, offline LAN support, and more. You can even use a control pad if that’s the way you roll.
‘Borderlands 2’ on PC will go beyond a straight console port
Gearbox has posted a list of native features supported by the PC version of Borderlands 2, after a negative reception to the first game’s console-style interface and lacking network functionality.

Gearbox has a long history of PC development, but the original Borderlands disappointed many by coming out on PC with third-party networking and an interface taken straight from the console version — it’s good to know that the developer is treating the platform properly with the sequel. The game is out for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on September 18th 2012.
