We first caught a glimpse of the Universal Audio Apollo earlier in the year at NAMM, and now we have word that the high-resolution audio interface has started shipping. Both the duo core ($1,999) and quad core ($2,499) models are available, and though the price is high, the Apollo comes packed with quite a bit in the way of features. You’ll get a 24-bit / 192 kHz audio interface, four analog mic preamps, eight line inputs and outputs, dual front-panel DIs, analog monitor outputs, eight channels of ADAT, and two channels of S/PDIF. There’s also a Thunderbolt option card coming in the summer — the price is still yet to be determined — which will apparently be the first Thunderbolt audio interface on the market. You can check out Universal Audio’s site for details on where to buy, but keep in mind that the Apollo is only compatible with OS X at launch — though support for Windows 7 is expected sometime in the summer.
