The Metro UI on Windows 8 is awfully pretty, but not everyone wants to wait to see if the dedicated Windows tablets are any good. Fortunately, xda-developers member BroBot175 has developed an Android theme that approximates Metro UI on the home screen and status bar of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It’s a beta release and more widgets and bug fixes are still in progress, but the theme seems to work fairly well, and is compatible with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as well as Honeycomb.

Currently, only the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is supported, although we’ve heard it may work on the original Asus Transformer. If you’re interested in installing the theme and have backed up your rooted tablet, you can head to the forums to download it and suggest the Metrofication of specific icons. You can also see an early preview of the theme below. For anyone with an unsupported Android tablet, the creator says he’ll be porting it to other devices like the Transformer Prime soon.
