Asus readying cloud computing solution to be unveiled in June

Asus has revealed that it’s working on a cloud computing solution of its own, though we likely won’t have much in the way of details until early June. During a speech at an event in Taiwan, Asus chairman Jonney Shih explained that the company would officially unveil a “total solution” for “ubiquitous cloud computing” at Computex 2012, a trade show that kicks off in Taipei on June 5th. While details are non-existent at this point, we can probably expect another iCloud-like service along the lines of AcerCloud.

That service is expected to launch later this month and lets users to sync media and documents between an Acer PC and connected mobile devices — but we’ll have to wait a few months to see whether Asus is as blatant about imitating Apple’s service as Acer is. Of course, when it comes to the PC cloud market Acer won’t be the only thing Asus has to worry about, as Microsoft has its own solution with SkyDrive, which has been steadily improving of late with new features that will take advantage of Windows 8.
