The Nikon D3200’s most interesting feature is arguably outside the camera itself — it supports the new WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter for quick transfer between the DSLR and your Android smartphone. That’s right, you’ll be able to take pictures with the D3200’s 24-megapixel sensor and upload them to Instagram without needing any cables or card readers. We’ve seen similar functionality in Canon point-and-shoots, but this is the first consumer DSLR to directly acknowledge the rapidly expanding influence of social networks on photography.

The WU-1a also allows you to use your phone as a remote live view display and shutter trigger. Unfortunately the adapter only works with the new D3200 for now, and iOS users will have to wait until autumn for a compatible app, but we definitely hope to see this feature more widely adopted going forward.
