Microsoft promised a full version of its Skype for Windows Phone software in April back when the original beta was released at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. The company delivered on that promise today by releasing version 1.0 of Skype for Windows Phone, taking the client out of beta and into a final shipping version.

There are some minor improvements in the 1.0 release, including a search and add new contacts feature, but the final version still lacks the ability to receive calls when Skype isn’t running — a limitation that a Skype spokesperson told us is due to “a combination of how Skype works and how the Windows Phone OS works.” Other improvements include the ability to call landlines, an improved launch time, and other general bug fixes. We’re expecting to see much deeper integration of Skype in Windows Phone 8, but if you can’t wait until later this year then you can grab the latest version at the source link below.
