A list of phones on US carriers set to receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 is now available on Samsung’s support pages, providing confirmation for a number of devices. It’s not the first time the manufacturer’s update plans have been detailed, but the latest announcement is far more carrier-specific.

Samsung has posted a list of phones which will be receiving an upgrade to Android 4.0, with a number of carrier-specific phones included. However, the Galaxy S — a handset that Samsung said was “under review” following a public outcry — has not made it onto the list.

On AT&T, the Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy Note, Captivate Glide, Nexus S, and Galaxy Tab 8.9 will all be upgraded, while on Verizon the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.7 will receive Android 4.0. Sprint’s Nexus S 4G already has Android 4.0, while the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch is also set to be updated. All Wi-Fi Galaxy Tabs currently running Honeycomb will get the update. However, T-Mobile customers aren’t being furnished with any details, just a message saying that Samsung is “in close communication” with the carrier, and will “provide updates as we have additional details to share.”
Two devices are conspicuous in their absence, though — the Galaxy S and original 7-inch Galaxy Tab. Both have been a sore point for Samsung, with the company revealing that it wouldn’t be updating them because of its TouchWiz skin and spec constraints. Public outcry led to the company announcing that it would review the update for both devices, though with the announcement that the international Galaxy S wouldn’t receive an update, this shouldn’t come as any surprise.
