The Snapdragon S4-powered HTC One X has been rooted by the community over at xda-developers. Last week we brought you news that HTC would not be unlocking the bootloader for the AT&T version of the One X due to unspecified “restrictions,” and, as suspected, it didn’t take long for the community to find their own way of circumventing HTC’s security. While the bootloader remains locked, making flashing ROMs an impossibility, accessing root will allow for device customization and compatibility with popular apps like Titanium Backup (for removing AT&T’s additional apps) and Chainfire 3D (for running Tegra-only games), as well as access to the device’s CPU clock. The rooting process is pretty straightforward, but there are risks involved, so make sure you read through the source link carefully before attempting anything.
