The Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Tri-Fi Hotspot, a device that connects to Sprint’s 3G, WiMAX, and LTE networks, is going on sale starting May 18th. The Tri-Fi will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, assuming you’ve signed up for a two-year data plan that ranges from $34.99 for 3GB of combined 3G and 4G data monthly to $49.99 for 6GB or $79.99 for 12GB. It connects to the standard eight devices and includes a microSD card slot that lets it double as a file server.

We first saw the Tri-Fi (then known as the Tri-Network Hotspot) at CES, where unfortunately we weren’t able to test its LTE capacities; customers probably won’t be getting access to that network either for a bit longer. The Tri-Fi does have one fairly big advantage, though: its 3,600mAh battery is twice as large as that of Sierra’s comparable AT&T Elevate 4G, and Sprint says you’ll get eight hours of use or up to eight weeks of standby on the device.
