If you insist against upgrading from Internet Explorer 7, Aussie electronics dealer Kogan is going to “tax” you an extra 6.8 percent for using the “antique browser” — 0.1 percent for every month since its release. When shoppers go to Kogan’s checkout on IE7 they are greeted by a popup imploring them to get a newer browser (pictured above), and if they refuse, the extra “tax” gets listed on their total (pictured below). In a blog post the company says:

The “tax” is a smart idea to drive some extra traffic to Kogan’s website, but we wonder who would actually pay the extra cash rather than upgrade (or just shop somewhere else). Then again, people that are still running IE7 might not be the best decision makers.
