Alan Turing’s 100th birthday celebrated with Science Museum exhibition, words from Vint Cerf

June 23rd marks the centenary of Alan Turing’s birth, and technologists across the world are celebrating one of computing’s most famous figures. Today, the BBC featured an article by Turing award winner and Google employee Vint Cerf that gives an overview of Turing’s enormous contributions to computing and artificial intelligence. Known for developing the Bombe decryption machine used to crack the German Enigma, Turing also worked on the Automatic Computing Engine (Ace) and helped pioneer the idea of storing programs within a computer. In addition, he created the well-known Turing Test used to judge if a machine can be considered intelligent.
