German developer and musician Alice Zeppa has created an umbrella that detects rainfall and turns it into 8-bit music. The prototype uses “one umbrella, 12 piezo sensors, two speakers, one Arduino Uno, and lots of duct tape” to create an awesome little chiptune. Zeppa, who has only been coding for three months, created the umbrella in collaboration with her band E.D.E.K.A.. While it could definitely be refined, the prototype is one way to make a rainy journey to work a little more jovial — although we’re not sure if your fellow commuters will appreciate the noise.
