Facebook has been adding employees since its recent IPO, and now it has recruited a longtime Apple designer. Former Apple UI Design Manager Chris Weeldreyer listed his employment at Facebook a few days ago; he’d been with Apple since 2003. His current title is “Product Design Manager,” which is ambiguous considering that he’s worked in both user interface and industrial design before. As 9to5 Mac notes, he’s listed on patents for iWeb, multitouch, and OS X gestures among other things. Could Weeldreyer be working on the long-rumored Facebook phone? If so, he’d be joining the alleged half-dozen “former Apple software and hardware engineers” who The New York Times says have also started work at Facebook.
